This is from a few months ago, but I was reading a review of Fantastic Children and saw your comment about Scrapped Princess. It is based on a light novel series, if you were still wondering, and some of it was released by Tokyopop. I personally place the anime among my favorites, so I wasn’t displeased by the ending, however you might want to check them out if you can get your hands on them.

Thanks for the reference. I remember looking it up but reading that the light novel only came out after the anime rather than reversed. Regardless, it was my first hint that light novels were not easy material for anime to adopt and reverse engineer.
